Texas has seen a historic Winter Storm take place this year and it has left residents wondering if the bill for electric or gas will go up in the next month. According to Atmos do to decline in resources following the cold snap people could see a spike in price as much as $300 to $400 until the coal plants have replenished and recovered. I just received the monthly bill I get and have not had time to look but hopefully it just went up a little bit.

Depending on the service area consumers may have different rates of change in between cities and towns within the regions they live in.

You may recall the shutdown of power plants and the rolling blackouts that happened across the state, these were do to the electric grid being put in a high demand phase. Controlled outages prevent failure of the grid and allow for power sources to be used in a manner that prevents overload of breakers. Excel also has performed in conjunction with Atmos to help conserve energy during frigid negative temperatures. These companies do all they can to combat a supply problem so there is enough to go around for everyone.

Generators are sold at online stores for a price that can be affordable, they range from solar to gas powered. If you plan to get a gas powered generator keep a distance set up between it and your house for safety purposes, gas is flammable and should never be right by a house as it can pose a fire hazard do to other things like possible power lines or tree branches that could catch fire. If using solar power place your device in a space where sunlight will hit the panel so it can store energy to power your home later.

Thanks for your contribution to the linemen keeping the power on.
