City of Amarillo Gets Approval for Final Phase of Martin Road Lake

The playa lake is located in Amarillo's medical district and has been in need of a major upgrade for quite some time. The city of Amarillo received a grant to begin work on this source of fishing and recreation of local residents who live within a short distance of this landmark. The biggest update to this according to the city has to do with the pipe system that keeps the water fresh so that the fish and other birds that also live off of the water can thrive. The upgrade began a while back and has since come a long way from the beginning of this project that started at least a year ago. This spring the city hopes to have every phase completed and have the lake open back up to the public once this project is finished. The future of Amarillo will look much better in this part of town and I can honestly say people who are moving in will want to check out this side of the city to see if they want to live there.

City officials say they hope this will create a fresh appearance to the Martin Road portion of Amarillo and that people who are visiting as tourists will be able to recognize the lake for a pretty look. Bringing fishing poles and holding fishing tournaments that create a benefit for the city at large aims to be the most important thing that the community would like to see.

Hopefully this Summer we will see more visitors to this part of Amarillo
