City of Canyon Getting Mural for Downtown Square

Murals have been popping up all across the Texas Panhandle including the City of Canyon.  The downtown square has chosen a muralist who will participate in creating a Mural in this area.

Upon reviewing 18 artist submissions Bristen Lee Phillips who lives in Celina Texas will be the one who creates the design for the city Main Street and construction is expected to start this month and be finished by the end of the year. He has family members in Canyon and was raised on the Frying Pan Ranch in north Amarillo.

According to a press release the painting will be inspired by Jack Sorensen and his paintings of western heritage which include the Lighthouse Trail at Palo Duro Canyon.
