The Amarillo area has seen a lot of businesses come and go over the years and some of them we still remember today for the catchy advertising that came on during a commercial break. It’s crazy to think that this tactic while still used today to grab the attention of viewers or listeners.

I have a list of five businesses that have pretty iconic ads. Check them out:

The Buffalo Nickel-Now I am not part of the generation of this establishment when it was in business but I know the ones who were around to enjoy this place got a great jingle to go with it. I was unable to find a video but this image can sort of give you an idea.

Cattle Call-This place was known for it‘s savory cuts of meat with everything from brisket to cole slaw and the in house signature BBQ sauce. I was really young when the restaurant was still in business but on some occasions I got to go here.

Homeland-Before United came to my area we had another grocery store that still provided the grocery essentials and a deli for fresh meats and cheeses. This chain is long gone now but I still have memories of shopping there.

Hastings Entertainment-This chain was exclusive to Amarillo and surrounding areas and provided the option to rent or buy movies and bring them back. I miss the days of riding up with my family and dropping DVDs into the bin. The Hardback Cafe had the best coffee ever and I would usually get hot chocolate from here on cold mornings.

Rainbow Foods-This market was in Amarillo for a long time and had different types of grocery and snack items that were travel size for the road. I remember this one was a good example of what is considered a whole food store where all of the product is a drink or a food item.
