One of the most popular social media platforms of today used for exchanging information can be credited to Mark Zuckerberg.
In 2004 Zuckerberg launched the social media platform under the name Facemesh inside his dormroom while going to school at Harvard University with his other college roommate, this early version of Facebook had an algorithm based on comparisons of friends, for example one user who is male would have the option to look at two different women and choose which one was prettier. The system would then recognize that person's likes and dislikes, in 2006 the name changed to The Facebook which was the same product under a new name with an age limit of 13 or older. When I got my first Facebook account I was 15 and to this day I've been keeping up with my friends lives as well as my own, I update it as often as possible.

In my humble opinion social media is a great tool to have for keeping up with what's happening in your community, Facebook was able to generate an audience for a Cornhole event to raise money for an employee assistance fund. I had a lot of fun with it last year as I got to be the DJ telling everyone where the different booths were, I promoted the event Facebook page several times as well.
By the time I had been using Facebook for several years I had at least 10 friends, most of whom I know in person, accepting or rejecting a request depends on mutual friends most of the time.
So thank the founder of Facebook for the great tool known as social media. I plan to use this for personal as well as business purposes.
