Amarillo has been known to have historical icons in the past and one of them revolves around the airport. Rick Husband had relations with NASA and was one of the astronauts that went on space missions to collect evidence for the organization in hopes of finding other life in the solar system. If you go to museums that are space themed you might run across a picture of him or see the items that were found in previous space shuttle flights.

I have a piece of the shuttle that Husband was on when the Challenger disintegrated in the 80s. Husband was one of the people on board when this happened. He was a longtime Amarillo resident so the Amarillo airport dedicated his honor of serving space trips. Still to this day you can find pictures of him and his team on the space mission. NASA has a place on their website that shows the different trips taken by Husband and what purposes these were for in terms of further research in the origination of space. If I met Rick in person I would ask him what he learned about the other universe that we have beyond our planet that we live on. We still don’t know about certain life on other planets and chances are there is something out there.

Space travel can be a fun and rewarding experience if you know the safety protocols and how to use equipment like an oxygen mask. When visiting a place like Mars you would want special footwear to make walking on a planet an easy task for things like looking for a space rock or other hidden gems during a trip.

If you are a fan of Astronomy you know about the different comets and constellations that make up outer space and the idea that space holds all of the stars that we see at night here on Earth. If you took the Milky Way and Old Ryan’s Belt and put them up close and personal in a space shuttle then you would be experiencing what Rick Husband was at his early years of space travel. I have thought about doing space exploration a time or two but I think leaving it to the professionals is best unless training is provided.

It will be something to see when we get other missions sometime in the coming years. Good luck NASA
