We are in the dog days of Summer and that means staying safe in extreme temperatures is more important than ever so you are protected from any form of heat exhaustion and other conditions. Here are some tips to keep in mind during this season:
Hydrate often to avoid overheating
Drink lots of water throughout the day periodically if you know you will be outside for an extended period of time. Take frequent rest breaks and apply sunscreen to avoid getting sunburn on your skin. I recommend getting an SPF 50 so it lasts for a couple hours before reapplying. You can also hydrate with a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade.

Save Strenuous Activities for Later in The Day
Avoid hard labor activities until the heat of the day subsides in the late hours of the afternoon when the temperature drops. This will make it easier on your body by reducing heat exposure allowing your body temperature to stay in a regular range.

Wear a Hat and Eye Protection
UV Radiation can do damage to your eyes so be sure to take a pair sunglasses if you know that you will be exposed to the sun for an extended time. I have transitions in my glasses so they protect me through my prescription. Also wear a hat for skin protection on your upper body.

Those are some tips to keep in mind this Summer season. Stay safe.
