In our area during the in between season of Winter and Spring we tend to have more favorable conditions for the start and spread of a wildfire. Some of the steps we can make to minimize the risk of starting a fire include not burning an open flame on your property, these things include a fire pit or some types of charcoal grills that do not have filters to keep the fire from being able to come out to far. I recommend not using outdoor cooking if the wind is up to at least 40MPH and humidity values are below 20 percent, these conditions promote the ignition of a blaze so if you see a Red Flag Warning like the image that is pictured below stay tuned to local media and heed the instructions that are given to residents.

Communities that obey warnings are less likely to be a concern because no one is doing open burning or putting out cigarettes on the ground which are both potentially fuel for a wildfire. During a burn ban your city’s specific county will put out updates on Radio, TV and social media. Other ways you can stay up to date include enabling an app alert system for your phone to let you know what the latest conditions are for your area.

Stay Safe out there and Have a great Spring season.
