Krispy Kreme Making Donut Prices Match Price of Gas

If you are going to get your morning coffee and donut fix you can run over to Krispy Kreme for a dozen flavors in your favorite variety. The price that you pay to this company will match the current prices of gas in your city.

Say that your current city gas price is 4.05. Every Monday if that is what you pay at the pump it will be what the price for a box of a dozen donuts cost. I wonder how this promotion makes current customers of this company feel. If I went and they offered a Gluten Free version it would be something I would want to ask about when my box costs a little over $4 plus a drink which would of course be included in the total.

It is a way for this company to promote itself by pairing gas prices with costs of product to the consumer. Krispy Kreme has been around for years now and has seen growth in the company in recent times. There have been different flavors serving as a weekly special for someone on a morning commute to work or taking kids to school.

For instance you could find a donut that looks like the one pictured above on the Fourth of July and other decorative varieties for holidays in a year. It’s interesting to see Krispy Kreme taking an approach to gas prices by matching prices together according to the current rate that people are paying at the pump. If I went inside to talk to the cashier inside the store or pull up to the order drive through I would ask what the approach is advertising.

We will see how long this promotion lasts. Maybe other donut shops will follow suit.
