The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is shaping up to have a sense of normalcy this year with crowds being allowed again into Times Square. This will hopefully bring some life back to the iconic celebration with people coming back to be in place. If you have always watched Macy’s on TV and never have been in person the square usually packs at least 10,000 people every year. Last year it was strange not having anyone out there except the broadcast booth staff who were in a space away from the outside exposure. I am happy to see that this decision has been made in regards to the tradition that we have all been missing both in person and on TV. The plan is to have the traditional parade with floats by different organizations like the original TV show balloons among other things. Macy’s plans on this year being the biggest celebration yet and that comes to no surprise after COVID regulations shut down the whole city of New York and suburbs by it.

This Thanksgiving tradition has been going on for a long time and still has it’s roots as being a pass time for American citizens to celebrate the holiday of giving thanks to the ones you love. There will be an audience together for the first time since the pandemic began so hopefully the event can go as planned and we can see what we are used to in normal holiday times.

The best part of the parade that I like the most is the different varieties of characters and sponsors that go down the parade route. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade will air on NBC Thursday November 25th.
