My Walmart Journey: 3 Years and Counting

It was February 2016, I was anxiously awaiting for that first phone call from at least one place for employment.

Before I tell you how my career has been going, let me give you a little history overview, in 1959 Sam Walton started his own business as an entrepreneur in Bentonville Arkansas where Corporate headquarters is located. Walmart started out as a small marketplace before becoming the worldwide icon we know is as today, through Walton's childhood he would help out his family to grow crops and different types of Harvest for picking and using for food.
Walton believed firmly in the family values of lending a helping hand to people, making them feel good that they were able to have that extra push to get tasks done, he takes the same idea and turns it into what he wants his company to be, people helping people and seeing that through as a difference that has been made in someone's life.
Walmart goes by many different names depending on the country you are in, but the merchandise is pretty much the same, everyday low prices on groceries and basic needs, before heading out to buy products, think about family values the Walton family had that still live on to this day, it's a tradition to be proud of.
So here I am, writing this blog and three years have gone by, all of them keeping the retail chain alive and thriving through my outgoing personality and willingness to put the consumer in my mind first before anything else, I got into Walmart's Lawn and Garden area and everything was new at the beginning, but as I gradually became accustomed to what this position was, I started to feel more comfortable with where I was at.
My favorite time of year in my department has always been when I'm putting out seasonal stuff like Christmas and Harvest, I always get a warm sensation stocking all those items on the shelf so they can be there for customers to shop for, that helps make a profit for the chain overall.
The picture above that you see is one of my top plants that I sell to customers when they come in, I have three mums in my flowerbed and they seem to be doing well this year, my family comes to see me every once in awhile to see if I have any specials on clearance for cheap.
As of this writing, I am in the transition phase between regular Garden merchandise and Christmas, by the time mid-October rolls around you can bet I will be putting up decorations like ornaments and wreaths, then another year will go by and we start all over.
My job is enjoyable in a lot of ways, I know Sam is proud of me for keeping his philosophy alive and that will grow on and influence a lot of people.
So here's to making a difference with a great smile everyday. I know I get a smile back. That's the Walmart way, and I'm proud to be apart of it.
