Netflix was one of the first streaming platforms to take hold in the entertainment industry by providing a service to subscribers with a list of categories that include movies in a specific genre. The company once had a mail service where you would receive a DVD of the latest movie to be released in the public. The subscription plan cost members around $9.99 a month which included the option to rent or buy the movies that were sent out to your house on a monthly basis.

On October 1st the streaming platform made the decision to discontinue the mail-in service in favor of more people turning to the internet for their binge-watching habits. The generation of physical media started to fade as we saw more watchers utilize the abilities of a smart TV to enjoy shows and movies over Wi-Fi versus a DVD or Blu-Ray. Netflix was one of the very first apps out there to introduce the public to the new way of the future in terms of entertainment providers. If you ever rented movies from your local video store back in the day, you would see this now thing of the past concept be brought back to life in a delivery setting.

When technology advances the landscape of the demographics regarding consumer preferences within a particular niche of the market economy on sales of a common product and that makes up the diverse nature of this business overall. I remember growing up my family used to take me to the video store and rent movies back before streaming on apps became a reality in the 21st century when fiber internet took over as the dominant way Americans got broadband for their homes in recent times. Connections gradually became more structured and faster within a decent amount of time and this led to the growth in sales on TVs with built-in connectivity giving a competition to disc format manufacturers.

The future is in WiFi and hopefully we will see this advance to more things soon.
