So I have a passion, something that has been with me ever since I was born, music and radio.

When I was growing up I listened to a lot of different artists and songs, some sad and some happy and inspirational, I would spend hours by my radio in my room just waiting for the DJ to come on and announce the song that just played, while listening it made me think about how this influences so many people's lives through the aspect of being part of the community. Some examples of this could be a local event at a venue, a new restaurant coming to town or even a news story to peek interest to listeners.

My college radio station has Liners and PSAS for different types of help that students may be looking for like tutoring or a counselor to help with the stress of keeping up with school work. When I took my classes for my media stuff I saw going into the studio as a way to release stress so I could be focused for homework or next lecture. Time went by and I got more and more seasoned with every shift I did on air, then I started doing bits during my show that covered Today in History or an inspiration for the day ahead to remind everyone that drive is all it takes to succeed at a task.

In the Fall of 2016 I had the opportunity to intern at Town square Media and see what goes on behind the scenes when on air stuff was taking place. I went to the studio of an AM station while a live local talk show was taking place, the manager showed me how to work the controls on the audio console for things like bed music and cuing up

commercials on time for the program, then I went to some of the music stations and watched the different jocks do their intros and breaks, I even got to crack the mic at the studio for the local Kiss-FM station to do a segment where we were talking about events around the area, I did a wine event, the paper had key points so I just went with the flow and felt comfortable all the way through. My favorite part of the whole intern was doing a remote from the Weinermobile from the iconic food chain, I even got a souvenir to take home with me.

I plan to do a lot more DJ stuff as side work from my other job, one thing I really enjoyed was getting to do my first gig at a fundraising event, my playlist had various genres in it and I had roughly two or three requests an hour. I was confident with everything from my sponsor injections to my promoting of different local companies when a business card was brought to my table. Overall, in my humble opinion I took cues very well.

So whether on the radio or at events, I have truly been blessed with a skill I can take a long way. I look forward to any

opportunities I get in future!
