Over recent years we have seen big box stores that sale furniture and accessories be challenged by the rise of the online shopping world. Websites like Amazon and other companies like it have created a mainstay for the everyday consumer through taking these outlets from in person to a virtual environment where the majority of shopping is delivered to the household. Consumers have changed over the years and the retail landscape has taken a different direction from in store shopping which puts Bed Bath and Beyond in a tight spot with profit and sales.

The majority of this chain has already filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and stores throughout the country have started liquidating inventory to prepare for store closures. Employees have yet to be notified about any changes to their work schedules but in the future that will be announced.

Bed Bath and Beyond has been a huge success providing people with common household essentials to refresh the look of the home they live in. I have been inside this store and it's got a little bit of everything from your average bedroom furniture to other things like towels to use in the kitchen and bathroom for washing your hands. It's been around since I was younger and even with a changing landscape in the retail industry over the years.

The building is currently for lease and new owners will be acquiring the property since every Bed Bath and Beyond in the country is closing. In other cities the old spaces have been converted into courts for the game pickleball. I might get to see something similar in the Amarillo area that takes over the property we have.

Good luck to the new owners
