Some people claim it to be a superstition but meteorology has had the idea of a Groundhog seeing it's shadow since the beginning starting in Pennsylvania.
The first celebration of this day started on February 2nd, 1887 in the city of Punxewtawney, the Theory is if Phil sees a shadow it means a longer Winter season and if not then we have less time to wait before tempratures start warming up. I like when Spring comes quicker being a warm weather person, it just depends on what the pattern has been during the year. This winter has definitely been a cold one where I live, so I hope when Phil pays a visit that this winter is shorter so we get to warm up temperatures sooner.
Let's hope for the best in February. Until then keep warm out there.
