The NBA is taking steps to keep their players safe and healthy while out on the court playing against opponents during basketball season. This device goes around a player’s ankle and is able to monitor his or her health, the NBA says this is not a mandatory guideline that has to be followed but it is there as an option for players who would like to be notified about general well-being. An app is available for convenience to track different vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure. I hope to see something like this be an option for other major sports like the NFL so players of that league can also be in the know on current health history and conditions.

If I was a player in either one of these sports I definitely would take advantage of the device and wear it to keep a log on record for future physician check-ups so they are current. Plans for starting to offer this new tracking device are still being worked out but we could see this by Spring 2021 when the new NBA season starts. Let’s hope this new plan makes the NBA and it’s players more aware of how they are doing health wise.

Good luck this next season with the new option being available. We will see how it works out.
